Sheryl Denise Swoopes is regarded as one of the greatest female athletes of all time. She is often referred to as the “Female Michael Jordan”, and was inducted in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. Swoopes was the first player signed to the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), and with the introduction of the Nike Air Swoopes in 1995, Sheryl became the first female athlete to have a Nike Signature Shoe named after her. Sheryl is a 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist, 4-time WNBA Champion, and a NCAA National Champion. As a professional athlete in the WNBA, Sheryl Swoopes spent ten seasons with the Houston Comets where she won four consecutive champions. She was named the league’s Most Valuable Player three times, Defensive Player of the Year three times, and Scoring Champion two times. Sheryl was named a WNBA All-Star six times. She was also named to the All-WNBA First Team five times and the All-WNBA Second Team two times. IN 2011, Swoopes was named one of the WNBA’s Top 15 Players and in 2016, she was named to the WNBA Top 20 @ 20 list. Sheryl also spent time with the Seattle Storm (May 2008-September 2008) and the Tulsa Shock (May 2011 – September 2011). Sheryl was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2016. Joined Nike as part of the W.I.N Program in 2020. Current position is an APLM for Sports Graphics and Promo. In 2022 Sheryl Co-founded Swoopes Hoops Elite alongside Mike Lyons. 

Mike Lyons is a professional basketball skills coach and peak performance specialist with a 16 year coaching portfolio that includes professional players in the NBA and Euroleague. Mike played at the D1 level while he worked towards his Bachelor of Business Administration. After graduating he moved on to play basketball professionally for five years in the Euro League where he was recognized as a versatile guard able to play multiple positions. Mike was known to be a great defender, with exceptional ball-handling skills, and a natural leadership ability. While playing in Europe, Mike worked towards his Masters of Sports Management. With 16 years coaching experience and as a former professional himself, he understands the inner workings of peak performance from a coaching perspective, but also the demands and challenges faced by professional athletes. As a result, Mike is able to bring a 360° approach to his sessions. Just as every athlete is individual, so too is every training plan, and Mike tailors his coaching programs to best deliver results for each individual athlete. Each session aims to turn a players’ weaknesses into strengths and improve all aspects of their game; shooting, ball handling, passing, physical agility and more.

Hubert King II is the founder of Champions Circle, a podcast host, and a youth advocate with 11 years of coaching experience. While attending high school, Hubert was recognized as one of the most accomplished athletes in the state. As a two-sport athlete, he was awarded co-player of the year for the state in basketball and athlete of the year for track and basketball. Hubert spent his college career playing basketball in Maryland and South Carolina where he received all region honors, and later played professionally in Germany. Upon retirement from professional sports, Hubert decided to give back to the community by starting his own non-profit youth development organization. His non-profit (Champions Circle) highlights education, mentoring and athletics. With 11 years of coaching experience, basketball skills training (youth and professional athletes) and 21 years playing the game of basketball, Hubert is a much sought-after coach and advisor. Hubert also has his Master of Business Administration and is pursing his Doctor of Philosophy. Currently Hubert continues to empower the youth through his nonprofit while also hosting his own sports-oriented podcast, which is signed to Fox Sports, called “Built Different”. 

Charisse Curtis is an experienced and dedicated public relations professional with almost ten years in the industry, supporting brands within the food and spirits, lifestyle, and hospitality spaces. After getting her start in Miami, Charisse moved to Los Angeles where she worked for Entertainment Fusion Group and managed a variety of high-profile accounts including Nylon and Keratin Complex. Charisse is the founder and president of her own consulting pr firm, Milano Consulting. She has an array of clients, including professional athletes, businesses and restaurants from a variety of regions. She brings a unique balance of charisma and charm to the field and is focused on helping her clients develop their brands across a wide range of platforms. Charisse received her bachelor’s degree in public relations at St. John’s University and in 2019, Charisse was chosen as a recipient of PR Week’s 40 under 40 award.

Cedric Carter is the Owner/Operater of Galaxy Training for Athletes, and has also recently become a partner of Jungle Courts. As a graduate of Durham College health and fitness promotions program, Cedric went on to become a personal trainer; fusing his career with his passion and deciding to train athletes (specifically basketball players) with a unique sports specific training style. Galaxy Training has grown into one of the top training programs in the world, and Cedric works with NBA players, overseas pros, and celebrities. Cedric has worked with or worked events with athletes/entertainers such as Matthew "Boi1da" Samuels, LaMelo Ball, Cory Joseph, Devoe Joseph, MiKyle McIntosh, Oshae Brissett, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Stanley Johnson and the list goes on. With youth empowerment being an integral part of his ethos. With over a decade of training and coaching experience, he's helped thousands of players in many ways on and off the court.

Tyler Postans graduated from Longwood University in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, with a concentration in Exercise Science. Tyler completed his internship with Bon Secours Sports Performance in Richmond, where he worked with an array of high school and collegiate athletes, learning from coaches who have been in the business for years. He soon took on the role of implementing his own Strength and Conditioning programs for two Division III Baseball and Softball teams in Virginia. After continuing his education and becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant, he now works at an outpatient clinic in Fredericksburg, VA where he specializes in Prehab and Rehab for injured athletes and the general population alike. Tyler is certified in Rockblades IASTM techniques, as well as Rockflossing and Rock cupping. He is level 1 certified in the Functional Movement Screen which allows him to assess movement patterns to design individualized programs to support the specific needs of each athlete. His diverse background provides him the knowledge and skills to work with all athletes on injury prevention strategies, as well as designing programs to improve the athletes’ overall performance to allow them to dominate on and off the field.

Kameron is a Freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University studying accounting with a minor in Business through the Snead Hall School of Business.Kameron hopes to gain experience in sales, business management, and information technology. Kameron focuses on leading and organizing the Swoopes Hoops social media division, including project strategizing and research, finding ways to attract new athletes, and creating a personalized experience. In his free time he enjoys basketball, watching movies, reading, and exercising. After college he plans on becoming a CPA, and later becoming a business partner to a management team. 

Sidney is a writer at heart, she devotes her time here with Swoopes Hoops to writing content for our website, flyers, posters, and social media posts. When she isn’t typing away, she can usually be found reading novels, playing basketball, eating delicious meals, or spending time with her family. After she finishes his educational career Sidney hopes to teach High School English in the Houston area and one day pursue a P.h.D in English.
